Running for 2010 taking off!

Can’t really believe it, but looking back now at the past four days I’ve been running on all of them. Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes! I guess I am a runner again! This one was one rough winter let me tell you … besides all the great weather we had I managed to stay inside a lot (wonder why?) neglect the treadmill quite often, and eat a lot and drink a lot of brewskies === that all adds up to an unhealthy weight gain and a fear that your running career is over … or at least peaked.

Bring on the daylight and warmer weather though, and you just can’t keep me from running!

So what were these marvelous runs?

April 1 – 4.87 Miles — The longest run I’d been on in a while. I was happy with this!
April 2 – 3.42 Miles — Went out to dinner, ate too much, and had two beers. Was feeling BLOATED!! So! I decided I’ll go run on the track late at night. Ended up with a nice run! Ran a bunch of intervals that really got the sweat glands going.
Here are the splits:
split time distance pace
1 00:04:18 0.47 09:09
2 00:02:09 0.25 08:42
3 00:01:59 0.25 08:01
4 00:01:49 0.25 07:13
5 00:02:34 0.25 10:20
6 00:01:34 0.26 06:09
7 00:02:26 0.25 09:43
8 00:02:02 0.25 08:09
9 00:01:56 0.25 07:42
10 00:01:53 0.25 07:32
11 00:01:42 0.25 06:46
12 00:04:06 0.44 09:16

Nothing spectacular, but remember I’m coming off Winter!

April 3 – Ran 6.85 Miles. This is my old favorite to run. A nice nearly 7 mile run that I just eat up like candy! I’ve done it in 54:00 on good days and 1:04 on bad. I really had the pipe dream of getting it done in less than 1 hour. To my amazement I ran a negative split on the second half and finished 59:39! Couldn’t have been happier with that one!

April 4 – Then tonight, just to go out running again because I could, did some more intervals on the track. A smaller modest run, but I was again bloated after lots of Easter candy and Easter meal!

Here are those splits:

1 00:04:43 0.50 09:29
2 00:02:12 0.25 08:52
3 00:01:54 0.25 07:39
4 00:01:41 0.25 06:43
5 00:02:26 0.25 09:44
6 00:01:59 0.25 07:52
7 00:03:10 0.25 12:46
8 00:01:33 0.26 06:00
9 00:08:01 0.81 09:50

And I had that race in the recent past too: March 27 – 5k Race (spring stroll, last post)

So now I can take a couple days off and get another long run next weekend… yeah things are looking up!

I think I just may run the Kansas Half-Marathon on April 18th.

See ya soon!
